Job Description

DevOps Engineer (E-commerce & Integration)

Job Summary We are seeking a solution-oriented DevOps Engineer to own the reliability, automation, and release management of our high-volume e-commerce ecosystem. In this role, you will act as the bridge between our Order Management System (Manhattan) and our E-commerce Platform (Salesforce Commerce Cloud).

Unlike traditional infrastructure roles, this position focuses on Application DevOps: ensuring data consistency, managing CI/CD pipelines via GitHub, and orchestrating automation jobs on Heroku. You will spend 80% of your time on engineering/automation and roughly 20% on high-level troubleshooting to resolve data disruptions.

The Tech Stack You Will Manage

  • Core Platforms: Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC), Manhattan OMS.
  • Orchestration & Compute: Heroku (running Python automation jobs/scripts).
  • Source Control & CI: GitHub, GitHub Actions.
  • Data & APIs: REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, PostgreSQL.

Essential Functions

  • Integration & Data Reliability (Crucial): Monitor and maintain the critical data pipelines between Manhattan OMS and Salesforce. Ensure product, inventory, order, and other data transfers occur without disruption.
  • Automation Engineering: Develop and maintain scripts (primarily Python on Heroku) to streamline manual processes, handle exception logic, and automate daily data flows.
  • Release Management: Manage the CI/CD strategy using GitHub. Oversee code branching, merging, packaging, and the deployment of releases to production environments.
  • Observability & Monitoring: Build and refine alerting mechanisms to detect API failures, job crashes, or data lags before they impact the business.
  • Environment Management: Manage SSL certificates, platform licenses, and user access controls for GitHub and Salesforce ecosystems.
  • Disaster Recovery: Own the backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • System Optimization: Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot coding issues that impact system performance or scalability.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2–5 years in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or Integration Engineering role.
  • Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python is required (specifically for API interaction and data processing).
  • Integration Knowledge: Deep understanding of data interchange standards (JSON, XML) and experience troubleshooting REST/SOAP API integrations.
  • Version Control: knowledge of GitHub (branching strategies, pull requests, resolving merge conflicts).
  • SaaS Ecosystems: Experience working with Enterprise SaaS platforms (Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify, or similar eCommerce systems) is highly desired.
  • Database: Working knowledge of SQL (Postgres) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with a "root cause" mindset.
    • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical business partners.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail (critical for certificate/license management).

Total Rewards:

The Shoe Carnival, Inc. Total Rewards program offers eligible associates highly competitive benefits, including the following:
