General Summary:  The eCommerce Salesforce Architect is a technical leader in the implementation, customization and integration efforts of eCommerce technical solutions utilizing the Salesforce Commerce Cloud platform.  The architect acts as the liaison between Information Services and the eCommerce and Digital business to develop the overall architectural design and implementation plan.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize knowledge of Salesforce, Digital eCommerce Technology, and integration techniques to design a complete solution.
  • Work with eCommerce and Digital business leaders and users to understand functional requirements and interact with other cross-functional teams to architect, design, develop, test and release features.
  • Perform gap analysis between business requirements and the Salesforce features and design the configuration, customizations, extensions, and interfaces required to meet the requirements.
  • Engage with vendors and consultants to determine the most appropriate technical strategy and designs to meet business needs.
  • Implement solutions based on Salesforce Commerce Cloud technology.
  • Lead the development team of software engineers supporting the eCommerce and Digital strategies.
  • Implement solutions supporting navigation, customer account, shopping cart, product search, order management, promotions, social ecommerce and other areas of eCommerce and Digital applications.
  • Diagnose and solve technical problems related to applications.
  • Manage the ongoing maintenance and support of the applications.
  • Performance tuning of the applications.


Requirements (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
  • Salesforce Certification is required.
  • 3+ years’ experience in retail and in cloud-based architecture.
  • Strong technical experience in production with Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
  • Experience with web development including Salesforce platform development, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, CSS, HTML/5 and proprietary Salesforce toolset (Pipelines, Controllers).
  • Experience with one or more back end languages, such as, PHP, Java, C#.
  • Experience with Relational Database technology.
  • Deep understanding of underlying web technologies (HTTP protocol, web servers, database servers, content delivery systems, web services, tags, search, etc).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • In-depth understanding of Salesforce project life cycles and integrating Salesforce with other systems.
  • Project or team lead experience is desired.
  • Ability to document or review the various technical artifacts to ensure following best practices.
  • Project plan experience with a proven track record of communicating project plans, scope, and status to internal teams and stakeholders.
