General Summary:  The Retail Analyst role has a direct impact on Shoe Carnival’s business by combining strong retail operating expertise with best-in-class retail & customer analytics and insights to support the company’s customer-centric vision.

The Retail Analyst position is responsible for understanding customer behavior to influence business decisions and support business strategies.  This includes analyzing the health of the customer file, identifying and analyzing customer segments in order to target with specific content and/or offers, understanding the performance of various marketing channels, and uncovering data driven insights in an effort to better retain and reactivate buyers.

Initiatives will include, but are not limited to, direct marketing optimization, incorporation of unstructured information, sales attribution, ROI analysis, and developing and maintaining Shoe Perks KPIs.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build predictive models and perform descriptive analytics using statistical methods such as clustering and segmentation techniques, regression, and propensity modeling to support the marketing efforts and business needs of the internal clients.
  • Provide ad-hoc and deep dive customer analytics to help answer and guide strategic business decisions.
  • Analyze Shoe Carnival customer data, demographics, segmentation, and market basket data to transform it into meaningful insights.
  • Ensure data integrity by leveraging proven methodologies, including data reconciliation, data integration, and data audits.
  • Translate complex analytics tasks into concise and easily consumable outputs to help business stakeholders make data driven decisions.
  • Design and test multivariate tests in collaboration with Marketing and Digital teams.

 

Requirements (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • BA/BS degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or related analytical degree or experience.
  • 2+ yearsof experience in quantitative marketing analytics/data mining and presenting those results to business partners.
  • Proven command of SQL, SAS and/or R.
  • Familiarity with a variety of statistical models including regression, market basket analysis, cluster analysis, propensity models, and other modeling techniques.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau) a plus.
  • Experience in retail or CPG industry a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills. Works well in a team environment and cross-functionally.
