General Summary:  The Senior DBA will be responsible for administering all aspects of Shoe Carnival’s Enterprise Database systems and associated applications.

 Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document backup and recovery processes to meet disaster recovery needs.
  • Responsible for providing analysis, diagnosis, and resolutions for performance issues.
  • Plan and implement Oracle installations, upgrades, patches and configurations.
  • Automate standard processes via SQL, PL/SQL code or UNIX shell scripting.
  • Design and develop processes to monitor and report on system capacity, resource usage, etc.
  • Responsible for the physical and logical database design. Oracle database experience preferred.
  • Work closely with development and system administration staffs on high profile projects.
  • Responsible for managing processes relating to data security, auditing, and database users.
  • Support application servers, client applications, and database management tools.
  • Provide technical knowledge and experience to IT staff and management as needed.
  • Manage complex technical vendor service requests to resolution.
  • Provide on-call (off-hour and weekend) support when needed.

 

 

Requirements (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 5 + years’ experience managing Oracle 11G or higher in a large scale RAC / Clustered environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle Database concepts, software and SQL features.
  • Oracle Certified DBA preferred.
  • Solid Linux/UNIX OS experience. MS Windows Server knowledge a plus.
  • Must have the ability to translate business requirements into a technical solution.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple databases, (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).
