Marketing Financial Analyst

Immediate opportunity! Join our Marketing team at our Corporate Headquarters in Evansville, Indiana.  This position will report to the corporate office on Monday through Thursday and work remotely on Friday from home. 

The Marketing Business Analyst ensures that Shoe Carnival's marketing spending is accurate, effective and efficient. This position leads the marketing budget forecast process, monthly and quarterly close responsibilities in partnership with Accounting. Beyond the close process and forecasting needs, the position will support analyzing and explaining business drivers for the weekly and quarterly results, ultimately forming recommendations for upcoming seasonal plans. Understanding "what happened", "why did it happen" and "what does that mean as we look forward" are important aspects of this role.

  • Supports the Marketing team to create and submit the annual, quarterly and monthly marketing budget.
  • Reports and analyzes actual and forecasted Marketing spend including monthly and quarterly variances between actual results, current forecast, plan, and prior year.
  • Leads monthly and quarterly close activities for marketing, reconciling all Marketing transactions; partnering with accounting to ensure accurate accruals and financial reporting.
  • Manages updates to the monthly/quarterly and annual forecast for marketing channels based on spending changes.
  • Prepares and maintains budget tracking/status sheets.
  • Recommends marketing mix changes that maximize sales and margin.
  • Analyzes day-to-day financial performance and dig into results to find insightful trends or anomalies. Provide actionable business analytics and recommendations, from both a financial and a strategic lens.
  • Leads the development of marketing metrics, scorecards and reporting and communicate progress on metrics.
  • Collaborates with other Marketing, Merchandising, E-commerce and Store Operations leaders to recommend discounting plans that maximize profitable sales growth through various marketing levers, including global discounts and coupons.
  • Performs other ad hoc analysis as requested.



  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science) or equivalent and a minimum 5 years of finance experience, OR master's degree and 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background and experience in P&L management, along with knowledge of general accounting concepts required.
  • Proven ability to self-motivate, ability to deal with ambiguity, change in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
  • Effectively partner and develop strong relationships with cross functional partners.
  • Ability to manage concurrent project timelines with the ability to prioritize accordingly.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including leveraging analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful strategies and recommendations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, etc), expert in Excel.
